Why "Madison from Madison"?

Welcome to my blog and my first official blog post! As I am writing this I have just completed my third week of classes as a student at Iowa State University (ISU). Since I am studying Journalism and Apparel Merchandising, I figured a blog would be an amazing way to put what I am learning into practice and also capture my favorite moments, outfits, and memories from my college years and maybe even beyond.

Those of you that don't know me might not get the name of my blog and those of you that know me might be thinking that's not right! Well, to start, my name is Madison Pincombe and I am originally from just outside of Madison, Wisconsin (hence the name). While I technically live in Middleton which is fifteen minutes outside of Madison, I have found in my short time at ISU that barely anyone knows or has heard of my hometown. So I have found it easier to just introduce myself as "Madison from Madison, Wi but not named after the city." This way it's more memorable and fun! I figured that perhaps this could carry over to my blog. Thus, Madison from Madison was born!

I want to use this post to introduce not only myself but also my vision for this blog. As I already mentioned, I was raised in Middleton, WI where I lived with my parents and two younger siblings. I have been blessed with a family that I consider to be extremely close. Being away from them is already proving to be difficult and I miss my sister, talks with my mom, and family meals more than I could have ever imagined.

Traveling is one of my passions. I have been lucky enough to travel to all 50 states as well as 6 countries. Early in my life my parents decided that it would be a fun goal to try to travel to all 50 states together before the time that I graduated high school and we accomplished this goal just over a year ago. Beyond that I had the opportunity to travel to Honduras on a missions trip the summer after my freshman year, and with family I have traveled to countries such as France, England, Belize, and Italy. Needless to say, I love to visit new places and learn tons of new things.

Some other things that I enjoy doing include dancing, fashion, art, being outdoors, organizing, and hanging out with friends and family. I have been dancing since I was three years old and I made it onto dance teams at my studio early on. One of my favorite dance experiences and most meaningful but challenging life experiences was being a member of the Middleton High School Dance Team for all four years that I was in high school. I am feeling an extreme withdrawal from dance right now since I am not currently involved in any sort of dance at ISU. Fashion has always been a large passion of mine and was ignited by reading fashion magazines. I love the freedom that fashion gives me to express myself through what I wear. This also motivated me to study fashion in some way in college. In my free time I enjoy creating art and experimenting with different mediums. This summer I tried out and feel in love with brush lettering and had the chance to do a few pieces for friends. This summer and in past summers I have also had the chance to be outdoors and go on fun adventures. I have been backpacking in Colorado twice with my youth group, I love hiking near my hometown, and spending time outdoors allows me to reconnect. Finally, any one who knows me will tell you that I am extremely organized and like it to be that way! Life just runs more smoothly when everything is in its place. I hope to blog about these passions and interests to give you a glimpse into the things that make up who I am.

I apologize if you found this post long or boring, I appreciate you reading and hopefully making it down to this spot. I really wanted you all to get a feel for who I am and what that means for this blog. I look forward to continuing to write, express myself, and practice writing. Thanks for coming along on this journey with me!
